The reflection grabs me,

Pulling me, yanking me, forcing me to its will

To the point

When it seems that all on the beach is me,

And it – the shining orb

It entraps me further

Into a world of disbelief

Where steps glitter and shine

And the waves crashing nearby

Become a lullaby

I choose to chase it

Wanting, what, I know not

Insight, nearness, to catch something so unreal

But it stays away

Yet, still I run

Longing even deeper

I run more and but the

Heaviness in my lungs will not stop me

Tiredness in my legs will not stop me

I laugh as I run

The magic is disappearing

Along with the shinning orb

Which is getting further away, as my steps slow

Leaving me to know I was only

Chasing a dream

As I sat on the sand

Feeling forlorn and in despair

An even brighter and more exquisite light

Suddenly appeared- too large and high to catch

Or even chase, this one promised more, somehow

It promised colors and life

It promised I would not have to chase it

It promised dreams, but not empty ones

No – full ones, of life and flight

I wanted nothing but to stay in its light with all it offered.

So, I did.
