The sun rose early one morning

eager and bright.

She rose with smile,

pleased to be the bringer of light

Se happily greeted some clouds,

calling each one by name;

Saying, “Hello, how are you

and shall we play a fun game?”

But the clouds weren’t in the mood

for fun and happy and bright.

They were grey and heavy,

feeling mean and not at all right.

They all talked it over

and decided to be angry at the sun.

Why should she have joy today

when thy had none?

So, instead of playing her games,

they followed her to and fro,

teasing her and taunting her

and blocking her glow.

The sun went down alone that night

without a chance to shine.

Now, the day was over

and it was the moon’s time.

The deed was over

but the end wasn’t done.

The sun awoke the next morning,

yet her light was hardly none.

All day long

she looked sad and down,

looking like had lost some shine,

and she barely came around

The clouds who were mean missed her.

They missed her rays shining through them

and the warmth of her presence.

They wondered what they could do.

They wanted things back-

To play their fun games-

To hear the Sun lovingly

call everyone by their names.

The clouds felt bad

knowing all they had lost.

Finally, they all realized

it wasn’t worth the cost

to focus on their own selfish needs

and hurt the Sun

who loved them all.

But what, oh what, could be done?

The next morning, as usual

the sun arose, like every day.

She has been shining a little brighter

and even again had games to play.

But today was to be different.

The clouds approached her at midday.

She feared more meanness was

heading her way.

Instead, they begged for forgiveness

and told her how they missed her;

And in that moment, the sun shone bright

and she became a teacher.

She told them that she knew

they were in pain that day,

Carrying heavy burdens of rain

and feeling down and gray.

Her game she had planned

was to run as fun as they could;

shaking their burdens loose,

feeling better soon, they would.

She then told them that she missed them, too

And they would be friends forever.

That she has been planning special games-

just for them to enjoy whenever.

She told them they never left her thoughts

and that she would always be theirs

because she loved them always-

and a round of hugs, they all shared.
